Examples of Wild Steelhead brood stock collected from the Sol- Duc River
These guys deserve a real pat on the back for donating these beautiful Steelhead to the project. If you fish the Sol-Duc river for Steelhead in the winter in the upcoming years I'm sure you will have a very exciting encounter with the offspring of these fish.

And here are the results of this highly successful project.
You'll notice that the left ventral fin is totaly or partially clipped, this is the mark that is used on all of the released "Snider" smolt.

An awesome example of how a well thought out resource project benefits our wild Steelhead and the anglers who fish for them.

This season we had 27 hens and 17 bucks donated to the program and we should easily achieve our goal of 30,000 first generation wild smolt to be released back into the Sol-Duc river next Spring.
The Steelhead that we do not spawn are released healthy and unharmed back into the upper Sol-Duc.

This is how the job gets done, check out the pictures below of Sam Windle transporting the brood stock from the river to the enhancement facility.

Sam is putting a tethered Steelhead into a transportation tube to minimize stress while the Steelhead is in transit to the facility. Mobile holding tank, customized to maintain the Wild Steelhead while still in the tubes. There has been 0 mortality in the transportation process.

Contact Sam Windle, 360-374-5439, for any contributions that you would like to make to this project/program.
Sam also provides anglers visiting the Olympic Peninsula with first class fully guided fishing trips.
