2005 WINTER STEELHEAD FISHING INFO
| Bogachiel River | Peak winter Steelhead fishing periods: Hatchery Steelhead fishing from November 15th - thru - January 20th. Wild Steelhead fishing from January 25th - thru April 15th. |
Most productive section of river: From us hwy 101, down stream to the confluence with the Sol-Duc river and Quillaute river. Easy to float and good bank access through here. |
| Calawah River | Exactly the same time frame for winter Steelheading as the above info would indicate | From confluence with the Bogachiel river and upstream to US hwy 101. Very limited bank access. |
| Clearwater River | Hatchery Steelhead from mid December and wild steelhead from January up until mid April. | From copper mine bottom campground and all the way down stream to the confluence with the Queets river |
| Elwha River | November 25th - January 15th for hatchery steelhead and mid March for wild steelhead. |
Lower river below the dam and at the mouth. It is Illegal to fish from a boat in this river, but bank access is good. |
| Goodman crk | December thru January | West of the G3000 main line rd all the way downstream to the mouth. |
| Hoh River | December and January for hatchery brats and January 25th through March for wild fish. | From US hwy101 and the Oxbow State camp ground all the way west (downstream) to Barlows/Dickson take out near the mouth of the River. |
| Queets River | Fishes well in mid December thru January for hatchery steelhead and very well in February, March and April for Wild Steelhead. | From "Streeters Crossing" on the Olympic National Park service
road and down stream to the town of Clearwater Wa. This section is very easy to float with decent gravel bars for wading anglers. |
| Quillayute River (Quileute River) |
November 20th thru March for Hatchery Steelhead, "Wild Snider crk Steelhead" and naturally Wild Fish. | From Leyendecker park down stream to the confluence with the dickey river. This is the main river through which all the Steelhead must pass on their way up to the Sol-Duc, Calawha and Bogachiel Rivers. |
| Quinault River | December, January & March | From US hwy 101 at the outflow of Lake Quinault and all the way downstream to the tribal hatchery. You are required to hire and fish with a native guide on this section of the river. The upper river above the lake is open water to the general public. |
