"THE RIVER REPORTS"
Current fishing reports are
primarily for Steelhead, King Salmon, Silver Salmon and Trout fishing on
Olympic Peninsula
rivers, with special interest on the Sol-Duc
River, Bogachiel River,
Hoh
River, Queets River
and Calawah
River near Forks, Washington. From time to time
we will also include Saltwater
Fishing reports regarding Halibut, Ling-Cod and Saltwater Salmon
fishing
at Neah Bay, Sekiu and La Push, Washington.
The
BIG Picture:
The Quilayute river system is the only show left for
Steelhead fishing right now and the curtain falls in here on April 31st.
The sol-Duc River will remain open for Spring King Salmon fishing through
the month of may
FLY FISHING REPORT:
The lower Sol-Duc and lower Bogachiel rivers have
been producing a handful of bright Steelhead for us but by and large the
majority of the fish are on their way out instead of on their way in.
River temperatures have been excellent and the fish are moving quit a
distance to nail a fly. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Summer
season, we've had some huge cutties on the end of the leader recently and
those Summer Steelhead are never as fussy as their Winter-run cousins.
Conventional River Reports:
Sol-Duc
River (pronounced sole~duck) -- Great shape
right now and there are a few fresh Springers up at the Sappho hatchery.

NOTE:
Wild Steelhead catch & release reg's are in effect.
All wild Steelhead must be immediately
released unharmed in the section of river upstream from the Sol-Duc
hatchery pump station.
Bogachiel River -- Primarily a
spawner show in here right now, hopefully there will be some new fish in
here when it opens for the Summer season on June 1st.
NOTE:
Wild Steelhead selective gear regulations as well as catch & Release reg's are in effect
above the US HWY 101 bridge.
All wild Steelhead must be immediately
released unharmed in the section of river upstream from the HWY 101 bridge

Calawah River-- We definitely had a decent Winter / early
Spring Steelhead season in here. Hopefully there will be a few fresh fish
in the lower end of this river when it re-opens on June 1st.
NOTE:
Wild Winter Steelhead selective gear regulations as well as catch & Release reg's are in effect.
All wild Steelhead must be immediately released unharmed in the section
of river upstream from the HWY 101 bridge. Violators, suspected
violators and anyone aiding and abating a violator will be abused to the
fullest extent and diameter of distention by a non-licensed
correctional facility proctologist (named Bubba).
